North Dakota’s largest city, Fargo, is located on the Red River on the eastern border of the state. The city of just under 110,000 serves as a shopping and entertainment hub for the region.

The adjacent community of West Fargo, with a population of nearly 30,000, is one of the fastest-growing communities in North Dakota. Just across the river from Fargo lies Moorhead, Minnesota, with a population of 40,000.

Schools

The
Fargo School District has twelve elementary schools serving kindergarten through fifth grade, three middle schools serving sixth through eighth grades, and four high schools serving grades nine through twelve. The West Fargo public school system has two early childhood schools, ten elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and one alternative high school. Eleven private schools in the area serve a variety of grade ranges from kindergarten through high school.

Training

Fargo is home to North Dakota State University, the largest university in the state, offering training, certifications and degrees in a wide variety of fields. NDSU is also home to the Fargo Skills and Technology Center, which provides customized training in a variety of fields.
 
Lynnes Welding Training offers instruction in all types of welding on its Fargo campus. Another option is Rasmussen College, offering degrees and certifications in its schools of study in these areas: business, design, education, health sciences, justice studies, nursing and technology.
